one thing i've always loved about the blogging community is our ability to support each other. we understand how much dedication and hard work goes into running a blog and all the other things that go with it; social network and what not. so it upsets me to see how many bloggers i've noticed recently (myself included) that have been left deflated from realising that either there page views or that comments being left on each post have decreased significantly. from my experience it does put me down a bit when this happens, as i personally feel much happier with how my blog posts look when i publish them compared to a year ago, and also i know that i put more effort into them now than before. however this time last year i would receive around 40+ comments and now i barely make 15-20. COME ON GUYS, this is not acceptable! we are supposed to be each others motivators because we all know what it's like. it's as if we've all gotten lazy and think just liking the picture on perhaps instagram is suffice. let's promise that from now on just when we have a spare minute; or even if we've have read the post and really do like it, just pop that blog a like on bloglovin or a comment saying what you love about it. it takes what, two minutes? and it gives a boost in a great way to that blogger. we have enough of negativity coming from outside factors so we don't need it within the community. LOL that makes us sound like a cult...

Love this Charissa :) my favourite part of blogging is reading that people have enjoyed a post, it makes it feel worthwhile. However, my blog is only a young'un so atm it only receives a few anyway haha xx

I know exactly what you mean, blogging is definitely both challenging and rewarding at the same time :) I love your blog and I have started following you with Bloglovin and GFC. If you ever get a chance to check out my blog I would be delighted, thanks!

I've noticed my comments drop too, I was looking at old, old posts and there was 20+ comments per post and now less than half so I am definitely making an effort to leave more comments and think others should too!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I haven't been blogging for that long, so am not getting regular comments yet. I think it's nice to stop by the blogs I like regularly and leave a comment. Hopefully you'll get all your comments and readers back :).
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your posts, and what you've said about blogging community is right. I love being in it, because it helps me to feel confident and when I read positive, lovely and sincere comments in my blog it keeps me motivated. So I always, when visit a blog, try to leave a good comment about what I liked, because I know how much it can help to move on to a blogger. Every comment gives courage and motivation. We all should keep that in our minds.:)

It's true, I've noticed a huge decline of comments on blogs. It's such a shame because it's the best thing about blogging! I don't know why people aren't making the effort, I always reply to my comments on my blog and comment on most that I read and it pays off because 1) you've made someone happy and 2) they'll often return the favour! I think there are a lot of people who expect people to go running to them but they have to make an effort too, it definitely works both ways. Fab post!
ReplyDeleteJosie’s Journal
I have to agree with you. Comments are getting less and less nowadays. Perhaps because of Bloglovin' and the simple 'like' stopping that sort of thing... or we're all just being super lazy! haha xx
ReplyDeleteeverythingbutthekitchen.blogspot.co.uk
So true!! I've noticed such a big drop in comments compared to a year or two ago. I have to admit I've got lazy with it though. Will make more effort from now on! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! Unfortunately for me I started fresh with a brand new blog just as this lack of support started happening resulting in me struggling to gain back a following never mind getting comments. I don't want to think it but I feel when people start to gain followers they feel they don't have to show as much support anymore. Personally I love a good commenting spree whilst sitting with a cuppa after a day at work.

This is so true I'm lucky if I get any comments at all on my posts these days. I do wonder sometimes if the shift from gfc to bloglovin hasn't helped xxx
ReplyDeleteColeoftheballl33.blogspot.co.uk
I've been commenting a hell of a lot more lately on blogs that I read! It's such a great way to communicate!

Amen sista! This is so true - I said earlier on twitter before reading this, but I've noticed a huge difference in my comments over the last few months and it really does make you feel disappointed, especially when you've put a lot of effort in. Kind of glad it's not just me though - it looks like everyone has noticed! I've been trying to spend more time reading other blogs and looking for new ones too, which is something I forget to do when I get carried away writing my own posts! Definitely agree we all need to share the love more! :)

You're so right Charissa! Sometimes I really am to lazy to comment but from now on I'll try and comment more often on posts that I loved reading! It does make a difference in the end - every blogger loves to get positive feedback on their posts right?

Agreed, all people want nowadays is people to 'follow' their blog and people to comment but too lazy to return the favour.
ReplyDeletecarlywritesablog
ah you're so right! I always thought my comments have decreased on my blog because I've stopped commenting as much as I used to in Uni (so much free time back then!) but maybe we've all gotten a bit lazy...
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this a problem for anyone else, but for me, my google chrome browser won't let me comment on peoples blogs so I have had to download another browser in order to comment.. such a pain ha #1stworldproblem
but I've definitely been inspired to comment more like I used too as you do forget how much it means to everyone! x

Completely agree, I love interacting with other bloggers, but even the bloggers chats have just become people asking for follows ect, not actually chatting about the topic and interacting with one another which will ultimately increase your blog views ect as you become part if a community. Xx

I agree, personally I think some people can get a little greedy and self obsessed with the fact they want comment but yet they don't comment on others, I think you've got to give out what you want in return. plus there are so many blogs now that you don't see many people commenting unless its to 'self promote'. I absolutely love your blog, you've inspired me to start doing some fashion posts and I would never want you to get disheartened if I didn't have time to comment on your newest post, but as you know i'll always talk over twitter, I find it quicker and easier to have conversations and interact. oh my god I completely agree! Ive hardly even had 4 a post and my views have become really up and down. I'm not sure what happened because I've improved in every aspect but it seems I'm not loved as much anymore. It makes me feel like my efforts aren't appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Have really notice a decline in my comments- I thought it was just me, so it's slightly reassuring to see that I'm not alone!

I love this, Charissa! I love getting comments on my blog so much so it's definitely a little disheartening to see that the numbers have dropped. Your blog is always so beautiful hun x
ReplyDeleteellenunderwater.blogspot.co.uk
You have a good point. It would be nice to see some more positivity and encouragement spread.
ReplyDeleteI really agree with the quote!
ReplyDeleteI agree! As someone who is quite new to blogging, it's nice when someone takes the time to comment on a post xx
ReplyDeletehttp://sofasoph.blogspot.co.uk/
Interesting post! I feel like I spend a lot of time leaving nice comments on the blogs I enjoy reading but I feel like a lot of the comments I get are 'follow me and I'll follow you back' or 'nice' and it makes me feel a bit crap and question if my blog is worth it. Like you, I feel as though the quality of my posts have improved a lot since last year but I don't seem to get a lot more traffic! Blogging is great but it can be quite exhausting...

Totally agree. I feel so much more inspired when I know what my readers like about my blogs. I unfortunately hardly get any comments on my blogs. 2 or 3 at the most :(
ReplyDeletezoea2812.blogspot.com
I really enjoy reading posts and commenting but recently the posts I've been seeing on Blogger have all been copied and re-churned I hardly ever see any original content these days it's all "My monthly favourites" "My Birchbox" "What's in my handbag?" and whilst some of these are interesting what women keep in their handbags etc tend to all be very similar so if I don't see anything that captivates me as a post i simply won't read it anymore because I know somewhere along the line I've probably already read about four posts exactly like it!
ReplyDeletehttp://abigailalicex.blogspot.co.uk
I totally agree! I try and comment on as many blogs as i can as i too know how it feels to try hard and have your blog posts improve but have not as many comments or views :/

Oh I agree. I always leave comments. People who leave one or two word comments really annoy me. Or self promotion like "I'm having a giveaway!" ... urgh. But at the end of the day, what is you give is what you get. I always feel like if you comment on blogs - both big and small - you will make that persons day and they will be more likely to visit your site and leave a comment
ReplyDeleteAnd there's nothing wrong with 20. I get 3/4 comments per post, if that. But I shrug it off, because it's not all about numbers. I post because I enjoy it
But I get what you mean though. Leaving a comment barely takes two minutes. No one can claim they're too busy for that!
www.curiouser-and-curiouser.co.uk
I try and comment on 20 blogs a day, sometimes a lot more than that as it is always nice for receive blog post comments and it boosts my views/comments too :) x

I totally agree I do think it is super important to support each other and I agree with some comments above me, at least take the 1 min to string a sentence together are simple "Cute" really looks like you are just copy and pasting it everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your blog so keep going the way you are now, even if numbers have been going down a bit!
Much love xxx

I completely agree with you! I've been blogging for over a year now and despite my posting sometimes being far and few between its so upsetting feeling no one is reading or commenting, I mean my blog is small but even one comment on my post make me feel worlds happier!
